3 Things that can stop you Creating a Blog

  1. Not knowing enough

This is probably the biggest reason that people don’t go ahead with creating their blog. Knowing how to create one and how to keep one going is a lot of knowledge. Unless you’ve already created a blog and know how it’s run then it’s the hardest part about starting one. Many people feel that their knowledge just isn’t enough to be successful and so they give up before they’ve even started.

Totally Blogging can help you with this though. Whatever gaps are in your knowledge, or even if you’re a complete beginner, there is something to help you on this site. Totally Blogging is equipped with hundreds of free guides that can help you learn more about blogging. 1. Not having enough confidence

Another really common reason that people choose not to go ahead with their blog is that they lack the confidence to do it. Many people don’t have a strong enough belief in themselves or their idea to know that their blog will be a success. Unfortunately, when people have an attitude like that it does mean that they won’t have the drive to keep it going. But this shouldn’t stop you.

Just because you’re lacking in confidence doesn’t mean that you should give up before you’ve even begun. Totally Blogging can help you boost your confidence by arming you with all the information that you’ll need to get started. Knowing more about your subject will help build your confidence and help get you started.

  1. Not having enough ideas

Many people find this is true when they start thinking about a blog so don’t worry – you’re not alone. In fact, many of the successful blogs today were started when the owner only had a few ideas in mind. Instead of getting defeated at the thought of not having enough ideas to get started, you should use this as a reason to keep going.

You can view your blog as a journey that even you don’t have mapped out yet and let it take you somewhere naturally. If you are really concerned however you can visit Totally Blogging and read some of their handy guides on what to write posts about, and how to keep them going. There are hundreds of sites out there which claim to do the same thing but quite often you’ll have to pay. Definitely – confidence is to important! I think blogging – like most other things in life – is 90% confidence so I say feel the fear and do it anyway! x

I totally agree! Confidence is a huge part of it. I was so scared to post mine publically for the first few months!

I so agree that confidence really is a huge part of starting a blog. I am actually an incredibly shy person and a massive introvert. For me pressing publish that first time was such a big deal, then there were people finding out and then there were other challenges along the way such as ‘being in photos’ and then ‘being in videos’. But going for it actually helps to build confidence and having a blog is the most rewarding, amazing thing so I agree…just go for it! x

It was pretty scary for me too – but so glad I got started now!

Lots of good things to think about here. I started a blog years ago and tried to stick to a theme them I didn’t really have enough ideas for that one theme, so started another one and so on. Now I try to stick to one and blog about whatever I want to that day. Confidence is a big one for me too as I love fashion but not very often post about it as I lack confidence.

I think blogging about what you know is more important than trying to stick to a theme, but I’m just one person.

Confidence is really important and blogging should be a passion – we struggle with not enough hours in the day to write all the posts in our head!

Great tips here. You definitely need confidence to blog but the confidence would only grow once you start blogging.
