Happy August! With the way the year is flying by it’ll be time for our next holiday before we know it. I can’t wait to have a break with my lovely little family and spend the week with my Mum. I’m really looking forward to relaxing in the hot tub – only 3 months to go now! Here are my Aims for August 2017. Find out what I want to achieve and be sure to check back to see how I’ve done at the end of the month.

Home aims for August 2017

Try 5 new recipes. I’ve already got a couple of ideas. I want to make a new pasta dish. I’m wanting to try a Chinese takeaway style dish in the slow cooker too. Once I’ve perfected the recipes I want to write at least 3 of them up for this blog.

Sell or donate 20 items. I’ve got a HUGE bag of items that I want to sell or donate. I need to get through this bag and have a good clear out. Some items will be going to a friend who has a baby. Other items will go to the charity shop. Then I will be listing some items on eBay. I’ve already got about 6 items listed for August which are mostly on buy it now.

Meal plan all month. This is something that I have been working on more and more this year. I’m getting back into cooking from scratch, meal planning and saving money on groceries too. This isn’t something that I strictly need to do, financially, but I think it is a great habit to be in. Just because I have more income now doesn’t mean I want to waste money unnecessarily on meals and groceries.

Get rid of all of Daisy’s old clothes / shoes. This ties in with the above really. I want to get the huge bag moved off our bedroom floor as it is just taking up unnecessary space.

Financial aims for August 2017

Spend less than £200 on groceries. We spent under £150 in July, but it was tight. I want to boost our budget to £200, to give us more scope for baking/cooking/trying new recipes. I’m going to be shopping at Tesco and Aldi mostly, to help me achieve this goal. This includes all pet food, nappies, wipes and specialist foods for Daisy.

Make £600+ from matched betting. Going to hit it hard this month! I want to save most of the money that I make.

Add £100 to my Amazon account. I want to get £100 in my Amazon AND KEEP IT THERE! I’m terrible for always spending it and I want to finally make a start on Christmas savings.

Add £500 to Tom’s premium bonds. This is part of our aim to buy a car from survey earnings. So far we are doing well, although we are a tiny bit behind where I wanted to be by now.

Online aims for August 2017

Hit 8,000 on Twitter. You can  help me out by following me on Twitter, if you don’t already. This should be relatively easy, as my Twitter has been growing well lately. I enjoy engaging with people there so do say hi if you see me there!

Hit 600 on Pinterest. Same as above really. Reasonable aim, although I may have to push myself slightly. I’m looking forward to watching it grow and seeing how much traffic I can get from Pinterest this month. Please do follow me on Pinterest if you want to help out!

Keep my completed posts above 50. I hit 60 as part of my July aims. I’ve scheduled a number of posts for the next few months, I want to keep this scheduled list up at 50.

Create pinnable images for 25 old posts. I’ve been working on this for a while now. If I complete 25 or 50 each month I should be up to date by early next year. Not bad!

Boost my affiliate income by 10%. This one may be a bit of a stretch, but I’m trying out a few new affiliate networks. Fingers crossed for me!

Schedule posts for September. I’ve got my August posts partially done already, and a list for the entire month. I’m going to work on a September post schedule next week and then spend the second half of August getting them scheduled.

Personal aims for August 2017

Arrange to cross 2 items off our bucket list. I’m thinking maybe a hotel stay! We have never left Daisy overnight yet but I’m hopeful Tom will be confident in doing so soon.

Go to the allotment at least 6 times. This is a realistic aim and one that I’ll start by completing one visit tomorrow when Daisy is at nursery.

Arrange a special day out for Tom. I want to tie this in with the bucket list aim above. I never got around to this last month, thanks to Tom’s shifts. However, I’m hopeful that I can do something nice this month.

Read three books. As part of my What I’m Reading series I want to read more books. Then I can share with others what books I felt were worth reading.

Go to the Doctor. I need to go back to discuss my aches and pains. I’ve been having more flare ups recently so need to just bite the bullet and book an appointment.

If you enjoyed this post I’d love it if you could pin it on Pinterest!

These are really good goals for the month. We’ve been saving for a house and it feels like it’s taking forever but putting a little away each month accumulates and before we know it we’ll have enough.

Thanks so much. To be honest we have enough money to buy now but want to keep saving for a much smaller mortgage which makes sense for us. Good luck with your aim x

Thanks so much. I try to spin all the plates. Sometimes I fail, but I try at least! That is the main thing isn’t it! Definitely a great idea to do it for your family, and also fit some time in for yourself.

Thanks so much! It really is true for me – I have set myself a mid month reminder to look back now too so that is helping.
