If you’re looking for an alternative to potato fries then I’ve got you covered with this air fryer carrot fries recipe. This recipe is simple to prepare, and takes minimal time versus oven cooking.

For me using the air fryer is one of my greatest kitchen time saving hacks. I love how fast the air fryer is, and best of all when I’m having a high pain day with my chronic health conditions I don’t have to bend down to the oven frequently.

I love to make air fryer chips, or air fryer frozen sweet potato fries in my air fryer, but when I fancy something a little different these air fryer carrot fries are the one for me! They are NEVER going to be as crispy as deep frying, just to be honest, but they are delicious, and best consumed very hot and fresh from the air fryer! If you want something super crispy you’ll want to make some air fryer frozen French fries instead!

I love cooking air fryer vegetables are they go so crispy and delicious.

Ingredients for air fryer carrot fries:

1/2 tablespoon of olive oil

Method for making carrot fries in the air fryer:

Top and tail your carrots, then peel if desired.

Slice lengthways and then slice lengthways again.

Alternatively use a potato chipper. These are designed for root vegetables, although I do find carrots very hard so sometimes they get stuck!

Roll the carrot fries in the cornflour and season with salt and pepper.

Place in the air fryer basket. Try to avoid overlapping as you want to leave lots of room for air distribution for even cooking to occur.

Cook at 200C (400F) for 12 minutes initially. Halfway through pour the oil on to the fries and shake well then continue cooking.

If required you can cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.

15-16 minutes is usually sufficient time to cook well, but this WILL depend on the size of the fries that you have cut. Try to aim for even cutting, to ensure even cooking.

Once cooked I love to serve alongside a tasty sriracha mayo or even just lightly spread with my homemade garlic butter.

Serve and enjoy!

Can you make air fryer carrot fries with no oil?

Yes, but you’re going to want to shake them VERY frequently. Personally I’d recommend just using a few pumps of spray oil per carrot. It’s very light on calories, but really makes for a much nicer batch of carrot fries!

Can you make crispy carrot fries in an air fryer?

Sprinkling with a little cornflour will help these to crisp up more. They are NOT going to be as crispy as deep fried fries, however, if you wanted those you’d just make them right?

These are quite crisp, especially if enjoyed right after cooking! Don’t leave these sitting as they will go a little soggy.

What are some great toppings for air fryer carrot fries?

I LOVE to use my own garlic butter. This is VERY simple to make, and I keep a homemade roll of this in the freezer at all times.

Also, garlic and parmesan works very well. I like to add fresh garlic, and grated parmesan to the carrot fries once they are cooked. This melts just a little and adds a lovely hit of flavour.
