Using the air fryer is a great way to enjoy delicious flavoursome food with next to no effort. These air fryer chicken fajitas are packed full of flavour, delicious crunchy vegetables and juicy, succulent chicken. I’ve used my homemade fajita seasoning blend, sprinkled generously on the chicken, and then cooked it up!
I love to make a large batch of this chicken, and then I will use it for a variety of different purposes such as chicken fajitas in tortilla wraps and in chicken fajita pasta. This is a creamy delicious pasta dish that re-heats really well and is perfect for tasty weekday lunches on busy work days.
Having an air fryer has to be one of my best ever Kitchen purchases! These days I have upgraded to a Ninja Foodi, and if you’re a fan of the Ninja gadgets be sure to check out my Ninja Foodi roast potatoes or Ninja Foodi chicken fajitas.
Air frying chicken is super simple, convenient, and tasty too. Juicy chicken is the perfect air fryer dish as you can really pack it full of flavour and it does not dry out like it can do with oven cooking. Best of all using the air fryer is a faster process, thanks to the reduced cook time, so I can get our lunch or dinner ready even faster! I love to make air fryer chicken recipes as they’re a great way to have fast dinners or even sandwich fillers.

Ingredients for air fryer chicken fajitas:
640g chicken mini fillets
3 mixed peppers
2 white onions
Fajita seasoning – If you don’t want to make a dry rub yourself you can just find a blend already prepared in most UK supermarkets.
Method for cooking chicken fajitas in the air fryer:
Slice your bell peppers and onions. I like to go for larger chunks, but you can do whatever size you prefer, larger is just less likely to catch and burn in the air fryer.
Add your chicken breasts to a bowl. Chicken thigh also works very well for this recipe.
Spread the fajita seasoning over the top of the chicken and then rub it across the breasts well.
Lightly oil your air fryer basket if you’d like. You can use spray oil or just a little drizzle of olive oil.
Add the chicken mini fillets to the basket.
Cook at 200C (400F) for 10 minutes.
Add the onion and peppers.
Cook at 200C (400F) for another 10 minutes.
If your air fryer basket is quite crowded then be sure to give the chicken a shake every 5 minutes during the cooking time to ensure even cooking.
Check the temperature before serving. The safe internal cooking temperature of chicken is 74C (165F). Make sure there is no pink meat remaining for safe serving.
When serving you’ll want to decorate with your favourite dressings; salsa, sour cream and guacamole all work very well! I love to make homemade wraps but the shop bought ones work very well and are cheap enough!
Squeeze on a little lime, or lemon, juice for a bit of added flavour.
What to serve with air fryer fajitas?
There are so many delicious options to serve alongside these air fryer chicken fajitas. We love air fryer jacket potatoes, no yeast flatbreads, coleslaw, garlic and herb dip, roasted peppers, air fryer roasted tomatoes, Ninja Foodi white rice, hasselback potatoes or air fryer chips. Yum!
I often use this as an air fryer flatbread pizza topping too – it’s so delicious and simple!
Here are some more great ideas:

What types of chicken can you use for this?
Chicken thighs work great for this recipe, as they bring some extra succulence, but if you’re a chicken breast fan then these will work great too.
Chicken strips, or chicken tenders, are a great way to save a little time on the prep or you can use chicken legs or chicken wings if you want to use something a little different, and perhaps save some money too.
Can you air fryer chicken fajitas?
Absolutely you can! See my recipe below. It’s very straight forward, and saves a little bit of time versus oven cooking. Best of all you won’t need to stand around over a wok or frying pan on the hob making sure it doesn’t burn.
Want to air fry fajitas with another meat?
This recipe works very well with steak too, or even something like a meat substitute, such as Meatless Farms or Quorn!

Can you freeze these chicken fajitas?
Yes! I would advise freezing it when prepared, and covered with the dry rub, but before cooking, for the best results.
Defrost in the fridge overnight, or for 24 hours, then cook as per the above instructions.
