I am a big fan of using the air fryer to make delicious tasty dinners for my family. These air fryer chicken kebabs (or kebobs) are a great way to re-create the takeaway style experience at home without spending a fortune.
What I love about my air fryer chicken kebabs is just how easy they are. I can prep them in the daytime and leave them to marinade in the fridge or I can whip them up right before cooking.
Cooking chicken kebabs in the air fryer is a great way to have a tasty dinner and by using a kebab rack, with metal skewers, I am able to also cook air fryer chips at the same time.
If you are looking to learn how to make your own chicken kebabs in the air fryer or perhaps looking for some inspiration on dressings to use then be sure to read on. Whether you use shop bought sauces or make your own you’ll be able to make some delicious, succulent chicken kebabs in just 20 minutes.
For this recipe I personally love to use my brown sugar BBQ sauce but I have been known to use a shop bought one when I am short on time or low on ingredients.
This particular recipe calls for chicken breasts but you could also use chicken thigh, ground chicken, air fryer chicken quarters or just about any cut of chicken as long as you can place it on a skewer.
If you’re looking to serve a selection of chicken dishes then be sure to check out my air fryer chicken wings too. I love to make air fryer chicken recipes as they’re a great way to have fast dinners or even sandwich fillers.
These Grilled Shrimp Skewers would be lovely too if you’re looking for something a little different.

Something to note about air fryer recipes is that all air fryers have different sizes, depths and as such the cooking times can vary. All air fryer recipes on this website are intended as a guide, and not a guarantee that the timings will be perfect. Enjoy!
Ingredients for air fried chicken kebabs:
400g chicken breast (or thigh)
2 white or red onion (your choice)
3 peppers (bell peppers)
150ml bbq sauce (or other sauce of choice)
Salt and pepper
Method for making chicken kebabs in the air fryer:
Cut the chicken breast lengthways into 1 inch thick strips.
Cut the onion into quarters. Remove the smallest centre pieces.
De-seed the peppers and cut into large chunks, around 1 inch.
Place the chicken into a bowl, add the BBQ sauce (or other sauce) and then place into the fridge for a minimum of 1 hour.
Layer up your skewers. I like to do pepper, chicken breast, onion, pepper, chicken breast, onion and repeat.
I place the chicken on to the skewer in an “S” formation, which I achieve by skewering the bottom of the chicken strip, then the middle folded over, then I fold again and skewer the top of the chicken breast.
I place the skewers in to the Ninja Foodi kebab rack, into the air fryer basket and then cook at 200C (390F) for 20 minutes. At the 10 minute mark I spray lightly with spray oil to keep them from becoming dry.
You can use wooden skewers if you don’t have a kebab rack, or don’t want to buy one, but soak them first to avoid them burning in the Ninja Foodi.
Flavour ideas for air fryer chicken breast skewers:
Sometimes I will make one of my dry seasoning mixes up, add a little vegetable oil or olive oil, and then mix together and stir the chicken breast through. You can use shop bought instead no bother!
My favourites are: peri peri seasoning, fajita seasoning, cajun seasoning and Mexican spice blend. I also love to use simple ingredients, such as paprika, when I want something a little interesting that my children will also eat, as they’re lovers of grilled chicken.
Chicken pineapple kabobs are great, and the pineapple brings a welcome succulence. Just buy a tin of ready prepped chunks if you want to save time, drain and then layer in between the chicken and other vegetables.
