Using my airfryer has been helping with this lately and this air fryer tortilla chips recipe is so very simple. You can use up leftover tortillas or you can even make your own tortillas from scratch to make this even cheaper.
I absolutely love to use my air fryer. I’ve got some fantastic, and very popular air fryer recipes, and I’ve been branching out more lately.
The air fryer is a great way to prepare dinners, side dishes, snacks and more while using minimal energy and only paying to heat a very small appliance too.

Ingredients for air fryer tortilla chips:
Tortillas (My tortilla recipe is simple and just requires plain flour, salt, baking powder, butter and water!)
Spray oil
Herbs and seasoning of your choice

Method for air fryer tortilla chips:
Preheat your airfryer to 160C.
Lightly spray each of your tortillas, both sides, with spray oil. Add any herbs or seasonings. I find chilli works well with paprika, salt & pepper work well and a little parmesan is delicious!
Take your tortillas and slice. I find a pizza slice easiest for this. I personally slice each tortilla in to halves, then quarters, then eighths. This allows me to make lots of tortilla chips!
It is quickest to slice the tortillas once you have ‘dressed’ them, and then just give them a quick mix in a bowl to coat the edges again.
Cook for 4 minutes and then shake.
Cook again for 3 minutes and then serve.
These air fryer tortilla chips go delicious with slow cooker beef chilli or Ninja Foodi beef chilli, tomato and chilli salsa, nacho cheese sauce & guacamole or as a base for slow cooker chicken nachos.
How to make air fryer tortilla chips:
These airfryer tortilla chips are really simple to make. You can use leftover tortillas or you can make your own. Making your own food is a great way to save money, in exchange for a little time. Also, it can be really theraputic to make your own food.
I find cooking and baking a great stress reliever. If you’re looking to make up a batch of side dishes then my slow cooker rice will work really well too!
Why not make these air fryer tortilla chips with cinnamon and sugar?
Just cook them up, minus any herbs or seasonings, and then give them a dusting when they’re hot from the air fryer with a mix of cinnamon and either white or brown sugar. These are delicious with a little melted chocolate spread, or Biscoff, or served with icing sugar dip – yum!
Want to make easier air fryer tortilla chips?
You can just use ready made tortillas and slice them up using a pizza cutter or knife.
Can you make flour tortilla chips in an air fryer?
You can use corn tortillas, flour tortillas, or just about any other tortillas really. Slice them up and then dress them how you like and you’re good to go!
Can you make these tortilla chips without oil?
Absolutely! I prefer to use a few calories of spray oil, just because I feel it helps the herbs and seasonings to stick better. If you want to use lower calorie tortillas, and skip the oil, then be sure to check/turn/shake them frequently in the air fryer to avoid them burning.
What is the best way to turn tortillas into tortilla chips?
I love to use a pizza cutter. It is a great way to slice through 2 or 3 tortilla wraps at once and get great results. It saves time and helps to get even sized tortilla chips too.
What other types of wraps can you use for tortilla chips?
I’ve tried a variety of tortilla wraps including corn, whole wheat and keto friendly / low carb. All have given great results. The key is regular shaking, a uniform size and ideally a little spray oil, although you can leave this if you want to – just shake a couple of extra times to prevent sticking to either the air fryer basket or all together!
