A cooked breakfast is always an event in our home. We love to have a family breakfast together on the weekends where we push the boat out and make something a little more special. Air fryer turkey bacon is a great way to enjoy a hearty breakfast and still keep it on the lean side.
My eldest daughter absolutely loves a cooked breakfast and I love to use my air fryer to prepare components the night before. I then leave them in the fridge and just re-heat for a few minutes before serving. I’ll usually cook up air fryer turkey bacon, air fryer sausages, air fryer roasted tomatoes and air fryer black pudding. On the day we want to enjoy breakfast I will cook up air fryer sausage patties, air fryer frozen hash browns and toast English muffins or make air fryer toast too.
In the past we were buying a takeaway breakfast as a treat, but the prices have just escalated lately and it was costing nearly £30. Mad when you consider we’ve usually got lots of lovely ingredients at home and have a bean-to-cup coffee machine.
We’ve been enjoying making lots of hot breakfasts at home and this turkey bacon works very well in an air fryer roll, tortilla wrap or just with pancakes and syrup. Sometimes I cook these bacon rashers up for a breakfast grazing platter too. Yum!
One last way that I love to enjoy this bacon is in recipes. I’ll cook it in advance and then use it in my bacon mac and cheese pasta bake or in an air fryer grilled cheese. The perfect salty combination!

Ingredients for air fryer turkey bacon:
8 rashers of turkey bacon
Spray oil
Method for cooking turkey bacon in the air fryer:
Pre heat your air fryer to 180C (355F approx).
Place a single layer of turkey bacon rashers into the air fryer basket.
Cook for 7-8 minutes and flip over once during cooking to ensure it cooks evenly.
Serve and enjoy as part of your favourite breakfast recipes.
Do you need to use foil for air fryer turkey bacon?
Personally I barely ever use foil in my air fryer. I like to lay foods directly onto the air fryer basket, or a rack above the air fryer basket depending on how much food I’m cooking.
This is sufficient for the bacon to crisp up beautifully as the perforations in the air fryer basket helps the airflow.
You can typically use foil in your air fryer, at the bottom of the basket, but you’ll want to avoid using it with any acidic foods and ensure that it is suitable for use during cooking.
Can you cook air fryer turkey bacon from frozen?
You can, but I would defrost first, mostly because it’ll be all stuck together and difficult to separate. If you are going to freeze raw turkey bacon then I would use greaseproof paper, or something similar, to try and keep the rashers separate and make it easy to only defrost the amount you want to use.
When cooking meat from frozen ensure that you’re cooking it safely, not slow cooking from frozen, and always check the internal temperature of the meat before serving too.
Want to make a tasty turkey bacon sandwich?
The best bread for a turkey bacon sandwich has to be either a soft white roll or a nice sliced tiger loaf. If you want to be a little healthier then you can use wholemeal bread, but whatever you do just make sure you’ve got lashings of sauce too!
Does bacon cook well in an air fryer?
These turkey bacon rashers do! They are absolutely lovely. Crispy and well cooked without burning.
Is turkey bacon healthier than regular bacon?
There is not much difference in it to be honest. Typically they have slightly less calories, but both are quite high in salt content.
Like all truly delicious foods it is obviously best enjoyed in moderation.
