I love my airfryer. It really does make cooking just about anything so quick and simple! I’ve already got some really successful airfryer recipes, such as airfryer chips, airfryer roast potatoes and airfryer parsnips so I’ve been experimenting with more homemade recipes recently including these air fryer hash browns.
These airfryer hash browns take around 15 minutes, from start to finish, and are 3 ingredient hash browns which are amazingly simple! I’ve also got a great oven baked hash browns recipe too and this goes great with air fryer sausages!

Ingredients for airfryer hash browns:
300g potatoes
1 onion
Salt & pepper
Spray oil (I used sunflower but you can use whatever you like!)
Method for airfryer hash browns:
Wash and peel potatoes.
Boil water, add salt.
Cook potatoes for 10-12 minutes, until tender.
Meanwhile, peel and finely dice the onion. Fry in spray oil until lightly browned. Add a little brown sugar for a caramelised onion finish. Remove from the heat once cooked.
Remove potatoes and place in ice water or place in cold water and leave to cool.
Grate potatoes. If desired you can use a muslin cloth to replace any excess water. I didn’t bother and they were still delicious!
Gently mix together the onion and grated potato. Add salt & pepper.
Shape into your desired shape. I used a *Le Creuset ramekin for each one to get the shape I wanted, but this really isn’t necessary.
Cook in airfryer on 180-200C for 8-10 minutes until they reach your preferred brownness. To make them an extra crunchy spray with oil halfway through cooking time and turn over to ensure both sides get even coverage of the spray oil.
Enjoy! I added a fried egg and spring onions to mine but you can enjoy with breakfast, on a Moroccan lamb burger or however you fancy really!

These are so simple to make, and delicious too! You can make a batch for the freezer – just fresh before air frying and cook from frozen. Add around 3-4 minutes and ensure they are piping hot before serving.

How long to air fry frozen hash browns? How long do airfryer hash browns take?
This really varies depending on the type you’re using. If you’re using frozen hash browns that are in one piece then aim to cut the time by 50% based on manufacturers recommendations and keep an eye near the end. Be sure to shake the air fryer basket a couple of times during cooking, to avoid sticking and/or burning.
