Whether you’ve got a crowd of family staying with you, a brood of lovely children yourself or just want to wow visitors a breakfast grazing platter is a great way to feed a hungry crowd food on a small budget.
You can use this platter to serve for breakfast or brunch, and change up the items to ones that you love. I just wanted to put this post together to show you a simple, frugal breakfast grazing platter that I made recently which would be ideal on a platter, a serving board or even as part of a fancy breakfast grazing table.
The total cost of all the ingredients were just under £15, although they were leftovers in the packets for several of the items including the chicken sausages, crumpets, crepes and pain au chocolat which were used for another breakfast.
Some of the items I had cooked in advance the night before, to save a little time. These were air fryer bacon and air fryer sausages. In the past I have made my own chocolate chip brioche rolls too but on this occasion I wanted something fast and convenient when we had guests visiting.
If you want to save some money on making your own breakfast grazing platter I would suggest making pancakes, we love these dairy free fruit pancakes, and perhaps adding some soft white rolls to bulk out the platter with a little less cost.
If you’re looking for a breakfast recipe with a little extra wow be sure to check out this blue smoothie bowl. This maple bacon bourbon jam would work very well with this platter too.

How to make breakfast grazing platters:
I personally find that the best thing to do is make little clusters of items around the board.
I’ll put together 1 or 3 items and then have little sections around the board. I try to ensure that I don’t overthink it when decorating a platter.
Get together all of your items of one type, for example your air fryer cheese crumpets , and then place them around the board, perhaps one or two in each third of the board or platter.
You can then continue layering up the items, working around the board or platter, to ensure an even distribution of everything. You don’t need to make the it completely symmetrical but this is a great way to ensure an even look through your breakfast grazing platter and it’ll make it easy to use up everything.
Want some other breakfast grazing ideas?
Other great foods that you can use for breakfast grazing are fruit platters, crackers and cheese (ideal for brunches!) or even a pancake station. Lay out syrups, sauces, fruit and pancake accompaniments and then have a huge stack of pre-made pancakes, or even make your own the night before.
Guests can choose to toast their pancake, or use a pancake griddle, and then decorate with their own choice of toppings.

What do you put in a breakfast grazing box?
Fruits work really well on platters, as long as they are fresh and you wash and dry them thoroughly. This is a great way to add some extra nutrition to your breakfast, and bulk out the look of carbs. Also, adding lots of fresh fruit brings real beauty to a breakfast platter.
We love to serve pastries and bread based items with our breakfast, as typically when we enjoy a platter like this we’ll be doing something that involves skipping lunch so this really sets us up for the day.
It is often cheaper to buy your own pastries than to make them but I do love making fresh bread too. You can’t beat the taste of lovely, fresh from the oven bread, and you just don’t get that with the supermarket do you?!

That Breakfast platter is amazing. Wish I'd had that idea when friends from NY visited last month. Girl friends for breakfast might be another idea. Loved this!
