Back in January I wrote a post containing our 2017 bucket list. It was something that I created, on a whim, after seeing a few other people doing so. I love the idea of having a list of things that I want us to achieve throughout the year. I tried to ensure that each of the items on the list was something fun. For me a bucket list should be about pushing yourself to try something new. It should also allow you to make time for your family, and yourself, to have fun and relax. Being self-employed it can be hard for me to switch off at times. Right now I’m writing this post pretty late at night – just to get it done. Days off are really important to me and I’m really excited to share with you our 2017 bucket list update.
Here is a reminder of our 2017 bucket list at the beginning of the year:
Now I have gone through and updated our 2017 bucket list using a traffic light system. Green means we have already achieved this, at least one. Orange means that we have set the wheels in motion. This could mean that we have something booked already or a date scheduled in our diary. Anyway here it is… our 2017 bucket list update:
If you want to be nice feel free to give this a pin – or better yet follow me on Pinterest!
So as you can see there are four completed items on the bucket list update so far:
Enjoy a spa day – I’ve wrote about one of the spa days that I’ve been on so far this year. I had a wonderful trip to Elveden Centerparcs, the Aqua Sana, with my sister. We had a lovely day together and it was a great chance to relax away from our offspring.
Go bowling – We went bowling on holiday with my sister and the children. It was great fun, a few strikes were had and most importantly – none of the children had a sulk.
Try new foods – While on holiday last month with my husband, another Centerparcs trip this time to Woburn, I tried some new foods. We had an antipasti platter and I tried every single food, apart from the olives – I know I hate those! My husband kept saying he couldn’t believe how much food I had tried. I ate foods that I’ve never eaten before, such as hummus, and was really surprised. I’m terrible when it comes to food so I hope I can re-visit this one some more through 2017.
Carry out random acts of kindness – I’ve updated my readers on this a few times now I think. This is my latest update. Basically I’ve been looking for opportunities to be good to other people, strangers or not. Since my last update I’ve donated some items to a homeless shelter, the food bank and bought a man a coffee after his card wouldn’t work. I’m always looking for nice opportunities to help others and I’m really enjoying it.
There are five items on the bucket list update that are on their way to being completed:
Attend a concert – I’ve booked tickets for my Mum and I to go to Adele. My Mum is so excited and it is going to be her 56th Birthday present.
Go to the theatre – My husband turns 30 this year, as does the Phantom of the opera. I’ve booked to take my husband on his birthday. He already knows so this isn’t me spoiling it!
Make ice cream – As I own an ice cream maker this one shouldn’t be too hard – just need a day when I’m definitely free to do so.
Go for afternoon tea – This is also booked on my husband’s 30th Birthday. Looks delicious on Trip Advisor too! Can’t wait for this. We did actually enjoy an afternoon tea recently in Woburn with family. I wanted it to be one just the two of us so I haven’t crossed it off yet.
Enjoy 5 holidays – Number four is being booked right now! A big lodge for the family for November in Centerparcs. We love Winter Wonderland and I think this will be our 4th or 5th year in a row. Daisy loved it last year so this year should be amazing!
I hope you’ve enjoyed my bucket list update as much as I have. It is great to reminisce on the year so far and to get some plans made for the rest of the year too. I’m looking forward to getting things crossed off ready for my next bucket list update!
