My dream living room

As my regular readers will know I am looking to move in to my own home in around 18-24 months. I’m really excited for the next chapter in our lives and hoping that one day we have a beautiful living room. At present we have a large living room which is open plan with our kitchen. While this isn’t that bad it would be better if we had a separate living room. So that is probably the first part of my dream living room!

This is probably the opposite of my dream living room! I want mine to be light and more modern looking.

My dream bedroom with Oak Furniture Company

*This is a collaborative post*. Back in 2011, or maybe it 2012, I wanted to re-do our bedroom. Freshen it up etc. At the time I knew that I wanted us to have black and mirrored furniture. This was quite fashionable at the time, I think, and some people I know still love this style. I haven’t gone off the style, per se, just I’m really tired of having to clean multiple mirrors on what feels like a daily basis. Now that I have a 14 month old my mirrors are always covered in lick marks, fingerprints and other random marks. This means that I spend lots of time cleaning, when I wouldn’t need to if we had gone for the other furniture type I was considering, oak furniture. Now I’ve been looking on the Oak Furniture Company website and there are so many pieces of furniture that I love!

How to Give your Home a Thrifty Makeover

Re-decorating is probably something that we would all love to do. Looking at old and tired furniture and fittings day in day out can get a little tedious, but the one question we all find ourselves asking; where on earth do we get the money? We can fantasise about gorgeous bathroom lighting and a standalone bath, a round the corner sofa that’s drowning in cushions or one of those induction hobs fitted into the kitchen worktops all we like, but as we are reminded far too many times, money doesn’t grow on trees.  However, despite the lack of money plants, there are still plenty of ways to re-vamp your living space, without breaking the bank.

Getting organised and saving time with Red Candy

I’m working hard recently on getting my home tidy and organised. We are quite clean, and good at tidying up after ourselves. However, having a 1 year old, and living in a flat, means we need to keep on top of clutter. As well as that I want to be able to save myself time when I’m cleaning by having less to move, clean and organise. When Red Candy contacted me, and offered me a selection of homeware goodies from their website I was very chuffed! I wanted to make sure that I chose items that were going to help me keep up with my de-cluttering / tidying goals AND hopefully save me some time too. Here is a look at what I chose:
