  • Putting a screen protector on my iPhone. I decided not to upgrade my phone when the latest model was released. I love owning an iPhone but the last two I have had have had some issues. This has put me off wanting to spend £600-£700 a year. I’m going to wait for the 10th anniversary model now (which will be who knows how much!). Anyway, having a screen protector for my iPhone 6s has protected my phone from a cracked screen several times. On holiday last week I managed to break another screen protector. I promptly ordered another one from Amazon and got it swapped straight over when I got home. These screen protectors are just a few pounds and save me from having to spend £100 on a new screen.
  • Meal planning. We’ve had another great week of meal planning. I’ve used up some of the random items we’ve received from our Degustabox and have saved lots of money. Meal planning keeps us away from the takeaway and means that we eat healthier too. I always sit and plan a weeks meals on a Sunday afternoon and it is becoming a great habit now.
  • Using Shopmium. This is a fantastic app that allows you to get discounted and free products from supermarkets. Because lots of lovely people sign up to my referral link I have earned a nice amount of money. This means that I bought a £6 tub of ice cream from Holland & Barrett and received a full reimbursement. The ice cream was healthier than normal ice cream too so that was a nice touch!
  • Getting my MacBook repaired for free. My MacBook broke within a few weeks of me getting it. I sheared off the key with my amazing keyboard skills. At least that is what I told myself. Then I had another issue occur. Usually I’m someone who will just procrastinate on such things, often past my warranty expiring. I decided that I would make the effort and I dropped it off for repair while on holiday. While the key has been fixed back on the other fault is still there. This means I’ll have to drop it off again next month, when I’m on holiday again. Still, at least it is free and I made the effort!
  • Buying a budget version of Lemsip. I’ve got a rotten cold at the moment. Despite not strictly being allowed decongestants I just can’t get through a cold without a nice Lemsip. I decided to purchase the Aldi version which was around 40% cheaper. They are surprisingly similar and I can barely notice a difference. They have been helping with my cold symptoms and I think that part of having a nice Lemsip is the psychological effects of it!

This week I’ve done well, especially with a nasty cold. I’ve tried to keep up my motivation for work, home and enjoying life. I’ve not let my bad cold confine me to my bed but I’ve not been outside spreading my germs around either!

I’m linking up with CassEmma  and Becky in this week’s ‘Five Fabulously Frugal Things I’ve Done This Week’ linky.

Great post Katy! Always fun to see what money saving stuff others are up to – definitely agree on the budget version of medication, we pretty much never get branded anymore.

My friend sent me a list years ago (long since lost now!) that showed the different licence numbers and some of the £3-4 ones were the same tablets (exactly the same composition) as the 15-25p ones!!

Pain about the problems with your Macbook, glad you’re actually getting them fixed while you can. I currently have “fix my daughters tablet” and “fix my Fitbit” on my lengthy to do list, our house is turning into a graveyard of broken electronics. Screen protector for your smartphone sounds an inspired idea, I really must get one. Hope you feel a lot better soon!

Thank you, I’m not feeling too bad. There is always something to fix isn’t there!!

I second the screen protector idea… from experience of not having one when I needed it! You’ve done really well with frugal ideas, it’s reminded me of a lot to work on too 🙂

Oh no! You’ll never truly know if the protector would save it but I’ve dropped my phone on concrete a few times now!
