Five Fabulously Frugal Things I’ve Done This Week – 21st April

What a week it has been! For a change I haven’t managed to schedule this post at least the day before. We have had a really rubbish week. Between my injured eye, having tonsilitis and having to wear a 24 hour blood pressure monitor I’m pretty sad about my health this week. However, just to top that off Daisy had a febrile convulsion on Wednesday which was a terrifying few hours for us. Still, I’m not one to dwell so I’ve been looking forward to thinking about some of the good achievements of the week. This week has been a good one for frugality at least. Here is my Five Fabulously Frugal Things I’ve Done This Week – 21st April post.

Five Fabulously Frugal Things I’ve Done This Week – 21st April

  • Got my husband using the slow cooker. I’ve been suffering from tonsillitis, and other things this week. My lovely husband has finally started to use our slow cooker more. This has meant healthy, tasty dinners and we’ve been running the fridge down before our holiday.
  • Walked everywhere. Apart from one trip to the hospital in an ambulance and one trip to the Doctors by car I’ve walked everywhere again this week. I’ve been so achy, and unwell, but being out in the fresh air is always a nice lift for my mood.
  • Bought a job lot of washing liquid. This is the second time I’ve found this Bold liquid at better than half price. We use it, and it doesn’t irritate my psoriasis, so that is a win!
  • Bought a new 3 month prescription card. My Maternity exemption has expired now as Daisy is one. I paid £29.10 and I’ve already had 6 or 7 prescriptions because of my usual health complaints and my tonsillitis. Wow. Money saved in the first month!
  • Got some supermarket reductions. We visited Sainsburys on Wednesday, before Daisy had her febrile convulsion in the car park. We got lots of great yellow sticker bargains. While I went off in the ambulance my husband went home to get supplies for hospital and fortunately dumped everything in the fridge. I wouldn’t have been made if he didn’t to be honest but I was pleased he was frugal still despite our panic.

To be honest it has been hard to find the positives this week. We are alive, which of course is the main positive. Life has kicked us a little this week but we have a lovely holiday next week to look forward to. This weekend I’m going to be slowly catching up on work and getting things scheduled for while we are away. As always I’ll be taking a break with my family and enjoying not being on my computer. I will still check in on social media so why not have a nosy at my Twitter or Instagram. We will be enjoying the wildlife at Centerparcs and taking our friends who have never been before. I’m really excited now, even if I do still feel really rough!

I’m linking up with CassEmma  and Becky in this week’s ‘Five Fabulously Frugal Things I’ve Done This Week’ linky.

Poor little thing. Hope she is feeling better now. It is hard to do other things when the littles are not well. Good for you for carrying on and being positive x

Really really hope you all feel much better and have a happy and healthy week’s holiday. That 3 month prescription card really does sound worthwhile! Good luck.

Yeah to a holiday….I love the positivity shining through in this post..it has such a great way of making you think of the week in a different way..and often frugality/money saving has a positive other effect. Such as walking..good for purse and health. Enjoy centreparks (again) they really should hire you;-)

Thanks so much! Yes that is too true, always about more than just the money isn’t it.

Thanks! This is our last one for a few months now. They claim not to work with bloggers… But I see them, all those top parenting bloggers getting their free weekends! I do get the odd freebie but never the whole holiday! Sad times!

How awful for you all. Such an occurence puts things into perspective. Despite this you sound very positive and upbeat. Enjoy your holiday
