Recently I spoke with a member of the team at Gousto and they arranged to send us out another fantastic Gousto box. We have already reviewed Gousto a couple of times now and you can read what we thought of some of our previous boxes here and here.

I love the convenience of Gousto. You can choose the recipes that you want to receive and you will have a box delivered to your home, suitably chilled, with individually portioned foods that allow you to make up the exact recipe you requested.
There is next to no waste (just the skin from the onion and the ends of the beans in this recipe) and overall the quality is fantastic. I’m yet to have a recipe that I didn’t enjoy, even the ones a little out of my comfort zone.
This is an example of what you receive from Gousto. You get all of the ingredients required, apart from a few store cupboard ingredients.
There is a recipe card that tells you what you will need, how long it takes to cook and provides you with a step by step recipe too.
This was super simple to make! The potatoes had the skins on still, saving time and effort, and also retaining some of the nutrients too. The addition of herbs, milk and a little butter made for a deliciously creamy mash that complimented the dish really well.
I’m a big fan of making homemade gravy anyway so to see it being carried out in this recipe was fantastic! I actually think I served the gravy a minute or two before I should have done, but it was still absolutely delicious and really low maintenance too.
It took just minutes to get it prepared and then it was just left until it thickened up.
Here is the finished result! The whole dish took 30 minutes, from start to finish. Because I’ve used received a Gousto Box a few times now I didn’t worry about reading the instructions through first and just followed it step by step.
The timings were spot on and I love that the beans were cooked in the oven, with the sausages. This was an effort saver and it meant less washing up too!

What do I think of the Gousto Box?
I absolutely love the idea of these boxes. At full price they are more expensive than most of the dinners that I cook, per meal, however, I love that there are lots of adventurous flavours on offer.
Getting a box once a month is a fantastic treat and it helps to keep us away from the takeaway too!
We typically spend £20 on a takeaway and can get a box of 2 meals, for 2 people, for just a few pounds more.
It is a lovely treat to have on a weekend and if you are going to be busy, perhaps because of moving house, it is a fantastic way to have a home cooked meal without all the effort of shopping and working out portion sizes.
There is always a wide variety of meals available in the Gousto box that are portion controlled and the calories are already worked out too.
I feel that the meals are always nutritional, filling and I love that you sometimes get a little freebie tucked into your box!
So far I think we’ve had a canvas bag, a lovely vegetable brush (that we’ve been using for MONTHS now and it is still in perfect condition), an apron, a recipe card holder and this time we received these delicious little salted caramel desserts.
They were teeny tiny, and I thought they were a bit small, but they were delicious and the perfect end to our meal together.
Another thing that I love about the Gousto Box is that my husband will use it too. My husband cooked our second dish, a chicken lemongrass curry, and it was to die for! The flavours were so intense and it was rich and filling.
Want to grab yourself a Gousto Box to try?
With my fantastic link *you can save money on your first month of boxes. The offers change frequently but at the time of writing this you can get a 50% discount on your first Gousto Box, and 30% off subsequent boxes within your first month.
You’ll be able to order 2 meals, for 2 or 4 people, for less money than a single takeaway would cost you. Best of all everything is already portioned out for you and you just have to follow the ingredients through step by step. It is so convenient and straightforward. The meals are delicious too!
What are the Gousto free gifts?
From time to time, you will receive free gifts from Gousto. In the past I have had a canvas bag, a teatowel (I think!), a vegetable scrubbing brush (that is still going strong after several years of regular use) and even little chocolate pot desserts too.
I think this is a really nice way to reward valuable customers, with a free gift or two! I’m not sure if there is a pattern to the appearance of Gousto free gifts but it’s a nice bonus either way!
