Every Thursday I will be bringing you another instalment of my guest series, Money Talks. I’ll be featuring bloggers from all walks of life giving their answers to money-related questions. Hopefully, you will find a new blog to read and learn more about other people online. Money Talks will be live every Thursday and I’ve got some absolutely fantastic bloggers taking part! Hope you enjoy it. If you’re a blogger and want to take part then get in touch. This weeks instalment features The Williams’ World. You can check out the Life With Amelia website here.
When did you start blogging?
You could say I have been blogging for ages, since 2001 when I discovered Live journal. High five to anyone who was on that platform, I have very fond memories of that time and wish that it had not changed so much. WordPress started 2010 when I found out I was pregnant and wanted to move away from my old journal on what was considered a more grown up platform. But boy do I miss the mood icons and pretty graphics.
What inspired your blog name?
My blog started when I found out I was pregnant with our first child. It was a free WordPress blog so I was just using my user name while I got used to the whole platform. Once Amelia arrived I really wanted to include her name. Since she was born my life will always include Amelia, so Life with Amelia was also born.
What is your attitude to money – are you a spender or a saver?
I used to be a huge spender, quite often on things I would normally regret. Normally using it as a way to try and lift my mood which would work for a while. Learnt my lesson now and I try and save ahead for things I want, and I am a much more sensible spender.
What is the best bargain you have ever purchased?
Is it bad that I honestly can’t think of anything? I need to start bargain hunting.
What is the biggest splurge you have ever made?
Probably my iPhone.
If you had £100,000 right now what would you do with it?
I would definitely pay off my mortgage and redo the parts of the house that need sorting. I’d also pay off my mum’s debts so she could finally relax.
If you could go back 10 years & give yourself one piece of money related advice what would it be?
Do not use credit cards they are evil and will cause you to end up in so much debt and you will stay that way until you are 36. So not worth it.
What was the last item you purchased?
Golden plums, round lettuce and pancake mix. Wild huh.
What is your favourite ever blog post?
I don’t think I have written it yet.
What is your biggest money regret?
Those damn credit cards and not moving into a bigger house before we had Amelia doubt that will happen now. I blame the credit cards.
