Using an air fryer is so handy. It takes just seconds to get foods cooking, and I love how fast I can knock up a side dish, or even a full meal in my air fryer. Cooking Ninja Foodi frozen french fries is something that I do frequently, as I've got a small french fry lover in my home, my 4 year old!
I've cooked a variety of different french fry or chip based dishes before, including homemade air fryer chips, air fryer cheesy fries, and even Ninja Foodi apple chips, and all of them turn out lovely and crisp and delicious.
My air fryer allows me to cook meals for my children on busy days with very minimal fuss and effort. I only need to be in the kitchen for a few minutes, and can get on with other jobs after school.
I am partial to a nice slow cooker dinner, and love to cook crispy and fresh air fryer side dishes to go alongside with it. It feels like the best of both worlds, and you really can't beat crispy french fries!
When life is busy it is really quite handy to be able to pop something frozen into the air fryer, such as air fryer frozen chicken nuggets, and I've even cooked air fryer green beans before, to serve alongside for a little bit of balance.
Air fryer frozen sweet potato fries are delicious too! I've cooked waffle fries, frozen crinkle cut chips and much more and the cooking times are all very similar.
If you're partial to a late night snack then you could even pop a portion in to cook while you make a nice cocktail, or pour a glass of wine. I've got some little cute metal baskets to serve my french fries in so they feel a little more special.
I've usually got a bag of frozen french fries in my freezer, meaning I can start cooking a meal in just seconds, and they're really quick and easy to make a little more special with some nice toppings. Air fryer lemon pepper fries are one of my favourites too.

Ingredients for Ninja Foodi frozen french fries:
- A bag of french fries
- Seasonings of choice
If you want to jazz your fries up a little more then you could use garlic powder, salt, black pepper and a little olive oil to ensure the fries are coated well. They are also great served with lashings of malt vinegar and salt.
Sometimes I cook them and THEN I toss them in a nice homemade flavoured oil, to give them some extra flavour, and then cook up for a minute or two just to make sure they're super crisp.
Something to note about air fryer recipes is that all air fryers have different sizes, depths and as such the cooking times can vary. All air fryer recipes on this website are intended as a guide, and not a guarantee that the timings will be perfect. Enjoy!
Want to make your own french fries?
I have a chipper that I bought from Amazon, and if you want to see my own recipe then here it is: air fryer homemade fries, steak cut chips or chips.
Method for Ninja Foodi frozen fries:
Honestly, cooking frozen food in the air fryer is really simple.
Most of the items that you buy frozen, at least french fries, are likely to have some sort of batter or coating on them. This means you don't need to mess around with anything else, as they are ready to cook.
I think this is part of why processed foods cook so well, and end up being a bit addictive!
The coating on frozen french fries will crisp up great in the small space of an air fryer, especially if you shake during the cooking time a little.
Anyway, here is my method:
Turn the Ninja Foodi on, to the air fryer setting and then set it to the recommended temperature from the frozen french fries packet.
Set the timer of your Ninja Foodi air fryer to around ⅔ of the recommended time.
I check the frozen french fries once, halfway through the cooking time. For example if the cooking time is listed as 15 minutes then I would air fry in my Ninja Foodi, using the air fryer setting, for 10 minutes, checking at least once, around the 5 minute mark, and then near the end of the 10 minutes if I remember.
When I check the frozen french fries I always give them a nice shake, and this helps avoid them sticking and makes sure that they are pretty evenly cooked. It's never perfect in an air fryer, at least I don't think so!
I feel that 12 minutes at 200C (390F approx) is usually the right temperature for the perfect Ninja Foodi frozen french fries.
Exercise a little common sense obviously; if you notice the frozen french fries haven't browned then cook a little more, I'd start with just 1 minute more, and then see from there. They will brown / crisp up pretty fast in the air fryer!

What are the best frozen french fries for the air fryer?
I love any frozen french fries that have a coating on. I find that rice flour and olive oil dressed ones works well and we really enjoy the taste.
If I'm making them myself then I usually will have an olive oil spray and I love to use a chips seasoning blend that I buy from Amazon.
How do you make crispy french fries in an air fryer?
Go for one that has a coating, as these will crisp up more.
To make sure they are extra crisp cook on a lower temperature for around half the cooking time and then turn up hot, 200C is good!
Also, if you find that your frozen french fries are not crisping up in the air fryer then you're possibly overcrowding the basket. Make sure there is just one layer of fries, and shake them up at least 1 or 2 times during the cooking.

How to air fry frozen french fries in Ninja Foodi:
Use the crisper plate, that comes with many Ninja Foodi air fryers, when cooking your french fries to get the best results.
Follow the time method mentioned above as no other changes should be required based on specific models, I've got several Ninja Foodi models, including a 15-in-1 multi-cooker, and a Ninja dual zone air fryer. Both are fantastic and give very similar results.
Can you air fry frozen french fries and other foods together in the Ninja Foodi?
Yes! I've found that fatty foods, such as air fryer bacon, will stop the fries from becoming really crispy, unless you use the crisper setting (assuming your Ninja Foodi model has one), where the temperatures can go as high as 240C (465F approx).
I've air fried frozen chicken nuggets, grilled cheese, Ninja Foodi chicken wings and a lot more alongside frozen french fries, with great results.
I've also cooked homemade air fryer potato wedges, though they do take a fair bit longer to cook.

Do you need to defrost frozen french fries before air frying in the Ninja Foodi?
No way. Just throw them into the air fryer basket, from frozen, and cook at a high temperature. Save yourself the time and effort!
If you do have frozen french fries that have been defrosted then you'll want to start with ½ the quoted cooking time, and keep a close eye on them.
Again, just make sure that you're shaking the air fryer basket at least 1 or 2 times, during the cooking time, to keep your french fries from sticking together or cooking unevenly.
What to serve with frozen french fries?
I've got a ton of great air fryer recipes so why not have a look at those?
My favourite dipping sauce would have to be the old classic, tomato ketchup, but we also love sweet and sour sauce, BBQ sauce, mayonnaise, curry sauce or even onion gravy when we want something a little different.
If you want to try making a nice assortment of chicken dishes to accompany these then be sure to look at my air fryer chicken wings, air fryer chicken tikka or even air fryer stuffing balls if you fancy something different. All of these would go great with a portion of Ninja Foodi frozen french fries.

Can you cook frozen french fries and chicken nuggets in the Ninja Foodi air fryer?
I find that they take a very similar time, so I pop them in for 12-13 minutes, at 200C (390F approx), and then sometimes the french fries need a couple of extra minutes.
A good starting point is around ⅔ of the cooking time, as stated on the packaging of the frozen foods you're cooking.
