I love the feeling of a nice, welcoming, clean home. This is what spurs me on to get jobs done. Despite this I still have a few jobs that I put off from time to time and cleaning the microwave is sometimes one of them.
I want to share with you my quick way to clean a microwave – in just 2 minutes!
Cleaning isn’t really something that most people enjoy is it?! I’m not the biggest fan of cleaning but I DO love having a clean and tidy home.
It is great for my own mental health, means I’m always ready for surprise visitors, and to welcome people into my home.
Here is a look at my microwave before…

When I need to clean a microwave I get a microwave proof bowl, fill it with a little cold water and add a few splashes of lemon juice.
You can use fresh lemon OR you can just use the squeezy bottles for pancake day. Either works fine. I just add a few drops.

Then I place the bowl of lemon water into the microwave and turn it on for 30 seconds. You can turn it on for longer, around 60 seconds, to create more steam.
Great microwave cleaning products:
If your microwave is particularly dirty then heat the water for a little longer to help shift the dirt.

I just heated this water for 30 seconds to clean my microwave:

This is what I use for cleaning. A sponge scourer (just a cheap one) and then some kitchen towel to wipe it over afterwards.

Once the timer has finished the bowl of water is steaming hot and ready to use to clean the microwave.
I gave the glass plate a scrub with the scourer under hot running water, just to save a little time.
After a minute of cleaning this is how my microwave looked. As you can see the results are really good.
My microwave wasn’t particularly grubby but it had sauce splattered all over it where I heated my 4-year-old a dinner in a hurry!
Can you use Zoflora in a microwave?
Zoflora is flammable, so no, I wouldn’t suggest use Zoflora in a microwave! However, you could use a little safely diluted on a cloth to clean the front of the microwave, but allow it to dry thoroughly before use.

Overall I love a cleaning tip that is quick, simple AND doesn’t involve harsh chemicals. Anything that allows me to clean my home fast, and cheap, is good with me!

Thank you! Why can't people just clean as they go? I'm always thinking this about my husband and our microwave!
