We were gifted this item in exchange for a review. My lovely daughter Daisy is 16 months old now. Daisy is a messy eater who is happiest when eating with her hands. I’m happy to encourage this as Daisy has a number of food allergies and in the past has had some food aversions issues. One thing that drives me slightly mad is having to clean under the highchair three times a day. I want Daisy to be happy, and enjoy her food, but I also don’t want to have to scrub my floors constantly. This is where the Baby & More Splat Mat comes in to play!

Splat Mat - Once unpacked

Look how TINY the Splat Mat is before being opened…

The Splat Mat is a round mat that is designed to cover 52″ and it covers more area than a typical square shaped mat. The best feature of the Splat Mat, in my opinion, is that it folds down really compact. This means it is perfect for packing in our large changing bag and taking to the park. The Splat Mat gives us somewhere for Daisy to eat lunch while we are out and there is something so lovely about a picnic lunch isn’t there!

Splat Mat - When laid out

As you can see there is lots of space on the Splat Mat for sitting down together, spreading out food and enjoying a nice picnic.

Splat Mat - A look at our lunch

Daisy had lots of fun when we had a picnic lunch together and it was really easy for me to pick the Splat Mat up and dispense all the leftover rubbish into a bag for putting in the bin.

Splat Mat - Daisy enjoying her picnic

As mentioned above Daisy is a really messy eater. Being able to place the Splat Mat underneath our picnic has been great for us. When Daisy has finished her meal I can just pick the splat mat up. By gathering the two sides together I can then take the food waste to the bin and clear up in just a few minutes. Cleaning the Splat Mat is really simple. Personally I have been spraying it on the floor, wiping it over with kitchen towel and then folding it back up. When we are using the Splat Mat at home I fold it back up and I store it in the cleaned highchair ready for use at the next mealtime. This means I don’t have to find a place to store it when it is not in use and this is really important in our small home.

Splat Mat - Daisy having fun

It only took a minute for me to clean away after the picnic. Daisy was busy running around with Daddy so she didn’t mind at all.

Splat Mat - Once repackaged

This is how small I was able to fold the Splat Mat back up after our picnic!

This mat is ideal for taking with us when we are on the move. This includes visiting relatives or even going on holiday. We will be taking ours away to Centerparcs in November so that we don’t have to sweep the floor quite as frequently! This is a great way to collect mess, keep your floors protected and enjoy a nice picnic in the park without worrying about grass stains. Daisy loves a nice picnic lunch and now we can enjoy trips to the park without packing a huge blanket to sit on.

You can buy the Splat Mat from Baby & More. We received our Splat Mat for free in exchange for this post.

We need something like this – there’s always food all over our floor. I love the design, it’s nice and tasteful… I actually wouldn’t mind having that on the floor of my kitchen!

This looks like such a great product, we have way too many splats in our house so it would be very useful.
