AD. My skin has been the bane of my life for years now. Firstly, I suffer from psoriasis. Since being pregnant with Daisy it has only affected my left foot (a large patch) and my elbows a little. Still, despite it being better than it has in years I’m still quite self conscious. It seems to flare up out of nowhere and before I know it people are asking ‘what is wrong with your foot?’ over and over. Anyway, I’ve tried a whole host of products for that, and I’m going to try something new in August! Meanwhile I’m more worried about the skin on my face – this is why I’m starting a new skincare routine.
I’m going to be going with the old faithful tried and tested routine. Cleanse, tone and moisturise. It can be hard sometimes to find the time as a Mum to really look after myself. This isn’t always because of being really busy, but always feeling like I need to dedicate my time to everyone else. When I was looking into finding a great acne treatment I knew I needed to look after my skin more.
I’m already fortunate in that I have a cabinet full of lovely products to use. I have products on hand from Clinique, Decleor and many more. So that is one positive about starting my new skincare routine. It won’t be costing me lots of money. Also, I just received this *Sensse Silicone Facial Cleaning Brush and Exfoliator. This is going to make it much faster and easier for me to get organised with my new skincare routine. This brush is designed to clean the skin and exfoliate it too. I love that it is waterproof and rechargeable too – so no expensive batteries to buy. I’m hopeful that I can use this in the shower in the morning to start off my new skincare routine.
The main area that I need to work on is my nighttime skincare routine. Looking after my skin is great for helping me to wind down and I’ve already dug out some lovely products to help make me more enthusiastic about my new skincare routine. The first one is this Decleor Aromessence oil. I first tried this in the Aqua Sana at Centerparcs and absolutely LOVE it!
I love that this facial oil can be used before I cleanse, tone and moisturise. It smells amazing and is the perfect way to start winding down ready for a nice sleep. Also, right before bed I use a lavender room spray by my bed. I like to spray the base of my bed, and the corner of my Hush mattress. This helps me to feel relaxed right before I go to sleep and since using this (2 years or more now) I have been sleeping miles better.
I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to keep up my new skincare routine. I’m trying to take more time for myself and I’m sure I can spare 5 minutes twice a day. My skin has seen better days, as you can see from the above photo. I hope that a good skincare routine can help me feel good about myself and help some of my PCOS symptoms.
