Why I love minimalism – and wish I could achieve it more at home!

Being a Mum to a 2-year-old means that my home inevitably looks like it is in various stages of a hurricane, or maybe the clean-up after a hurricane. There is a regular stream of toys, food, drink, and household items dotted around my home during the day. This is absolutely fine with me, as I’m so grateful to be a parent, but there are definitely times where I long for minimalism in my home, at least beyond my bedroom. I love minimalism and feel that it brings real calm to my bedroom, so today I want to share how I’m achieving this – at least in one room of my home!

Our dream garden

I’ve made no secret of the fact that we are hoping to move by the end of Summer this year. All being well we will be celebrating Christmas in our own house this year for the first time ever! I’m REALLY excited about this year, and I’m pleased that the time seems to be zipping by so we are closer to our goal. I’m already thinking about how we want our home to look and one area that is particularly important to my husband Thomas is the garden. Today I want to share with you more details about our dream garden.

Review: Gift giving with My-Picture & a Giveaway too!

Brightening up my home with personal touches is something that I have really enjoyed in recent years. I have been slowing down in recent months, as we are going to be moving later this year. When My Picture got in touch, with an opportunity to work together, I decided to buy some gifts for relatives in our family, to let them know that we are thinking of them, and to hopefully brighten up their homes too.

Cleaning my mirrored furniture with the Daewoo Window Vac 12W Cordless Window Vacuum Cleaner

We’ve got mirrored furniture. Not our best idea. When we first bought it I wanted it to give our room lots more space, and a lighter and airier feel. This worked out really well and I never regretted our choice. Until we had Daisy of course. Now the mirrored furniture in our bedroom is frequently covered with tiny fingerprints, mysterious splatters and other assorted toddler mess. I do still enjoy having the mirrored furniture, as it is so handy for looking around the room at night, checking on Daisy, making the room feel more spacious and improving the light too. Recently I was sent the Daewoo Window Vac 12W Cordless Window Vacuum Cleaner to review and I want to let you know my thoughts on it!

How to create a smarter home for 2018 with key free locks

I have spoke about my love for technology around the home a few times before. I own lots of gadgets at home that are designed to make life easier, run smoother or just be more enjoyable. These days there is a plethora of technology that is designed to make life easier, but doesn’t always do so. I’m not sure about you but keys are a bit of a pain for me sometimes. As a parent to an 18 month old I often use my keys as a welcome distraction for my daughter. This means that on occasion I get home, and lug the pram up 48 stairs to our front door, only to find that my keys have been left in a shop, or on the journey home. This isn’t ideal but I think this is just one of the reasons that we would have really appreciated the chance to have a key free door in the past.
