Happy Friday! I hope that your week has been a good one. We’ve achieved lots of jobs at home, completed a deep clean and started the next decorating job – decorating my office. I’m so excited and the house is coming along nicely now. We’ve spent a fortune, more than I care to admit at this moment in time really, but it’s starting to get warm and clean and fresh in here so it’s worth every penny really. This spending means that having a control on our family finances is more important than ever! Having absolutely minimal food waste is always important to me but I’m making things stretch even further at the moment. I will be taking steps to make sure we are avoiding overspending on groceries and this week I’m going to visit Lidl or Aldi for my shop, rather than doing an online shop. We’ve got lots of supplies in the fridge & freezer for Daisy, including her specialist bread and snacks, so I’m hopeful I won’t need to visit a ‘big’ supermarket.

Each week I sit down, for around 30 minutes, and plan out our dinners. I like to look through the cupboards, have a delve into the chest freezer and then ask my family what meals they would like to eat. Sometimes I pick up a reduced bargain in my local Co-Op and other times I am trying to bulk out meat dishes to save a little bit of money. Overall I enjoy meal planning now I have been doing it for almost 2 years continuously. In that time we’ve saved a LOT of money versus ordering meal boxes and buying too many takeaways, but this IS an area that we still need to work on. In the past, I switched from shopping at Tesco to shopping at Aldi and saved over 30% and I want to start visiting the discounter supermarkets more, as they really do save money, but of course it is a trade off of time/convenience.

Each week I invite other bloggers to link up their meal plans, to try and share recipes around with one another, inspire each other and hopefully drive a little bit of extra traffic too!

My favourite meal plan from last week was: Meal Planning Monday

The Meal Planning Linky Week #101

I’ve got 7 dinners planned this week. Being realistic I expect that one of them we will ‘roll over’ into next week, just because we end up eating out or having a takeaway.

The meals for the Meal Planning Linky Week #101 are:

Slow cooker beef chilli - A sneak peek at the end result
My slow cooker beef chilli – you can add a little more liquid if you like more sauce!

Quorn Chilli con carne – using my slow cooker beef chilli recipe

Jacket potatoes in the slow cooker - A look at the finished result!
My jacket potatoes can be made in the slow cooker with or without foil!

Slow cooker jacket potatoes with leftover chilli

Easy homemade garlic bread - look at the bread once it has been dressed! Delicious
I first made this recipe when I burned a loaf of homemade bread and wanted to salvage something nice from it!

Spaghetti carbonara with homemade garlic bread

Slow cooker hunters chicken with chips - A look at the finished dish
This is one of my favourite ever slow cooker meals!

Slow cooker hunters chicken & air fryer wedges

Smoked paprika chicken (This is just a packet mix meal for convenience!)

My fresh pasta recipe - A look at the tagliatelle on my drying rack
Homemade pasta is really fun to make – and so simple too!

Fresh pasta & homemade garlic bread

Slow cooker whole chicken uk recipe
Putting a whole chicken in the slow cooker is really convenient – and it makes a delicious stock too.

Slow cooker whole chicken, airfryer roast potatoes, sage & onion stuffing, airfryer parsnips and onion gravy plus more veggies and Yorkshire puddings too!

If you’re looking for meal planning inspiration then be sure to read my meal planning tips and my meal planning with mince post. I’ve also got a post about making a roast chicken go further.

I do love chilli with baked potato, it’s one of my favourites but I’ve not had it for ages.

It sounds like you are getting loads done in your house. Good luck with getting your floors done.

Thank you! The floors didn’t get done in the end, which isn’t great!!

I can not believe how much you have managed to do in the house it is looking amazing. Plus managing to meal plan while the time is stressful is even more shocking when there all such amazing meals.
