Morning. Happy Friday. Another week passes by, this one went surprisingly fast. We’ve been home for about 10 weeks now. I miss outside but I am also grateful to be safe at home. In our own space, and not stuck in a roasting hot flat anymore.

For now I’m just trying to stay safe and calm at home. As always I am always trying to take steps to make sure we are avoiding overspending on groceries.

Having a plan each week helps to keep us on track. I’m a big fan of budgeting and meal planning goes hand in hand with keeping a tight control on our food budget.

My favourite meal plan from last week: Meal Plan Monday (Recipe Books) from Cats, Kids, Chaos

The Meal Planning Linky Week #125

I’ve planned 7 dinners this week, as we aren’t really having takeaways at the moment. I’ve also got a loose plan for lunches and breakfasts, which I don’t always do.

*Get yourself £20 off your first Hello Fresh box!

The meals for the Meal Planning Linky Week #125 are:

Crispy-skin chicken breast with mushroom vin sauce, roasted carrots & garlic mash (Hello Fresh)

Beef fried rice with green beans and red pepper (Hello Fresh)

Pork & apple burger with rosemary wedges and rocket salad (Hello Fresh)

Mexican-style beef with crispy potato top and guacamole (Hello Fresh)

Pork steak with creamy mash and peppercorn sauce (Hello Fresh)

A week of slow cooker dinners Slow-cooker-chicken-curry

Slow cooker chicken curry with rice & accompaniments

Airfryer chips

Fish & air fryer chips

That’s it! A nice straight forward week for us. I’m looking forward to not having to plan our meals too much and everything being measured out for me. I do love the convenience of Hello Fresh.

While you’re here why not check out my meal planning with mince post. I’ve also got a post about making a roast chicken go further.

You really did move into your house at just the right time! I feel sorry for those stuck indoors with no garden. Another nice looking week of meals.

Me too Jane, it was perfect timing for us!

I’ve never done Hello Fresh – they’re based in our town. I like the sound of the mexican beef. Thanks for hosting

Thanks love! I really enjoy the boxes. It is cheaper to DIY of course!

That all sounds delicious – and quite easy to pinch ideas from ! 🙂

Yes, and best of all the recipes are on their website if you want to make anything yourself!

All the Hello Fresh meals sound so good. Ohh! Pork and apple burgers. We love those here. I usually make them from scratch. It’s been so long since we had them. x

    • katykicker May 25, 2020 / 3:10 pm

They were so tasty! I’ll definitely make them again – the Hello Fresh ones were all handmade too, as so fresh!

Your week sounds delicious, I’m tempted to try hello fresh just to stop me reaching for a takeaway! Do you rate the quality?

    • katykicker May 27, 2020 / 11:39 am

I’d rate it like 8/10 overall. Sometimes the service is a bit off, and the odd item is missing, but the credits are worth it. £6 credit for a bag of spinach that was less than fresh. My delivery today is delayed by a day this week so £10 credit, which is fine but not so much if you was relying on it for dinner tonight! Some dishes have slightly fatty looking chicken but I trust the process and it’s always delicious.

My kids love chicken curry and I have discovered about three ways to make it in the slow cooker that work so that’s a huge win for me, feeding them.
I have never air fried chips, must try that.

    • katykicker June 1, 2020 / 12:15 pm

Oh that’s fantastic! The air fryer chips are SO good and crispy!
