Good morning & happy Friday! Another week has zoomed by in our house. A week of house jobs, cleaning, work and not much else, but it has felt good anyway! I’m feeling super grateful to have childcare for 20 hours a week or so at the moment, to allow me to start getting on with some of my ‘one day’ work jobs that I have been meaning to get around to doing for absolutely months.
This week I’m going to get a Hello Fresh box in, well, on Monday, with 5 dinners in. This means that I don’t really have much planning to do this week, and instead I can just focus that time on working hard and achieving lots around my home.
I love the convenience of Hello Fresh and am definitely going to write about it soon. I do feel like the meal choices have become a little samey for me, but I’m looking forward to our meal after a week off!
Meal planning helps us to have low food waste which is really important to me. I feel really sad if we have to throw something in the bin, thinking of both the environmental impact and the fact that other people struggle to afford food.
I am always trying to take steps to make sure we are avoiding overspending on groceries.

Planning our meals is a great way for us to save money, stay organised and eat delicious, tasty meals. I really enjoy cooking, and love making something new at least weekly.
At the moment our meal times are one of the highlights of another day staying home together, and so I want to make sure we are enjoying nice food together.

The Meal Planning Linky Week #129
For the week ahead I’ve loosely planned breakfasts and lunches, to ensure that we have enough items in, and then we are fortunate enough to have a Hello Fresh box coming for most of our dinners which I am very grateful for.
(*Grab £46 off your first 3 boxes)
The meals for the Meal Planning Linky Week #129 are:
Hello Fresh: Chicken Laksa
Hello Fresh: Pan-fried chicken with lentils
Hello Fresh: Chicken and plum sauce with mash and garlicky cabbage
Hello Fresh: Teriyaki beef mince
Hello Fresh: Pork Linguine
Homemade pizza night using this bread maker pizza dough
Slow cooker sausage cassoulet (vegetarian sausages)
That’s it! A nice straight forward week for us. I’m looking forward to not having to plan our meals too much and everything being measured out for me.

I love the idea of the Hello Fresh boxes and the variety of recipes you can choose from. The pork linguine sounds really nice!

The pork linguine was delicious, and actually so hearty that we had leftovers the following day which was nice! x

Your meal plan keeps tempting me to come back to hello fresh but we have had such a bad experience a couple of times in the past. Maybe one day once we have weaned Troy a bit we will end up rejoining.

I love the idea of Hello Fresh - a complete time saver and no need to think about what's needed. Definitely sounds like a big bonus to me ! Teriyaki beef mince sounds interesting :)

It's great to take away the time from meal planning, shopping for those items etc, but obviously is a little bit more expensive as a trade off!

I do love the sound of the Hello Fresh boxes and I am thinking of giving them a try but maybe in a few months when our money situation is a bit more settled. I think my favourite meal you have planned this week is Chicken and plum sauce with mash and garlicky cabbage. I'm not a big fan of cabbage but the garlic makes it sound so good x

I think the link I share makes the first box fairly cheap (similar to buying the ingredients) but the boxes are a bit expensive otherwise! You'll definitely save money by meal planning & shopping yourself.
The chicken & plum sauce is SO good! I'm also not much of a lover of cabbage so usually let Tom eat that!

Hi Katy, Does it work out more expensive using Hello Fresh? The meals look nice and I guess there is no waste, though. Have a good week.

Yes. I costed up a box recently. It was £41.99 and I could have bought the ingredients for around £24 at Tesco, however, it's delivered/super convenient/weighed out etc. There is no waste. I find all of the fruit & vegetables are unpackaged BUT some items, like soy sauce etc, there are two little plastic packets, which is more wasteful. I'm working on a video on it atm!
