The Meal Planning Linky Week #38 Meal Plan

Meal planning is something that I have really come to love in recent months. Meal planning helps us avoid buying takeaways, helps us to eat healthier meals and has become an important part of my organisational week. Being able to look at a meal plan, and choose what we are going to eat, takes some of the stress away from our day.

Day to day life can feel a little stressful at times. Like a lot of parents, I’m juggling multiple activities on a daily basis, and I’m also fitting in working from home too. Meal planning saves me time and effort and best of all it saves us money in the process!

By holding myself accountable, with a meal plan, I am making healthier choices for us. We are cutting out on the takeaways, preparing food from scratch and saving ourselves money too. I have switched from shopping at Tesco to shopping at Aldi and this has helped our grocery budget too.

My favourite meal plan from last week: Meal Planning Monday by A Strong Coffee

The Meal Planning Linky Week #38

This week I have planned 6 dinners. This leaves one day for using up leftovers or possibly eating out. We like to be a little loose with our meal planning, to try and avoid the possibility of food wastage. Also, we don’t eat our dinners on set days, as I just decide each evening which meal we will be eating the following day.

My meals for the Meal Planning Linky Week #38 are:

Rubber roast chicken

Slow cooker roast chicken with all the trimmings (ultimate onion gravy, airfryer roast potatoes and sage & onion stuffing)

chicken, spinach, filo pie - A look at the finished pie

Chicken, spinach & filo pie with veggies

Dolmio #Thankgoodness campaign - Chicken pizza

Homemade pizzas

A week of slow cooker dinners Slow-cooker-beef-chilli-A-sneak-peek-at-the-end-result

Beef chilli with slow cooker rice

Slow cooker chicken nachos

Slow cooker chicken nachos

Salt and pepper chicken

Salt & pepper chicken, egg fried rice and chow mein

Homemade oat biscuits

Snack: Homemade oat biscuits

I absolutely love my triple slow cooker. It helps me batch cook, make a separate meal for Daisy and I can even make side dishes too!

The slow cooker nachos sound and look amazing. Also love chicken pie so warming for these colder autumn days

They are SO tasty! I am making a pie tonight actually – and I can’t wait! (Yes, even at this time of night!)

I love reading your meal planning posts Katy – I love knowing what other people eat on a day to day basis, and your meals always look great! I’ve never done a full chicken in the slow cooker – I’m a big fan of the ones in the bags from Aldi and Lidl etc – but I might have to try this method one day soon 🙂

They’re really nice – but those ones in a bag are delicious too (and cheap enough at Aldi!)

I am planning cookies today too. It’s raining cats and dogs so can’t go out! Made some grape jelly yesterday so I’m in cooking mode!

    • katykicker September 30, 2018 / 10:37 pm

Oh well done you! I’ve never tried grape jelly. I hope it turned out well x

Lots of great minds thinking alike! I just made cookies and we’re having chicken pie this week too! It’s definitely comfort food weather!

      You’re right – it’s all about the comfort food isn’t it! x

Love the roast chook, and pie made with leftovers. We’re having a slow cooker chilli too. A super frugal largely vegetarian week for us. Thanks so much for hosting the linky each week.

My teen was nearby when I looked at your meals over the weekend and saw the Slow cooker chicken nachos. She was begging me to make them! They will be going on our meal plan soon x

Oh wow – hope they go down a treat! x

I have seriously got to attempt those chicken nachos. I think they’d be a massive hit in this house.

    • katykicker September 30, 2018 / 10:28 pm

When I made them this week I use a chipotle seasoning and they were even better!
