The Meal Planning Linky Week #40 Meal Plan

This post may contain affiliate links.

I love finding time for meal planning each week. It is a great way to keep my family organised, eat good food, save money and avoid the takeaway as much as possible. I love seeing what we have in, and using up what we’ve got, to save a little money on the odd week. That is what I’m going to be doing this week!

I find that I need to spend around 10-15 minutes per week planning meals. This includes deciding what we fancy eating, looking for new recipes and writing a shopping list. Luckily for me my husband does a lot of the shopping, at Aldi. We are saving a lot of money, especially as I have switched from shopping at Tesco to shopping at Aldi. Also, I host meal plans from other lovely bloggers, in the hopes of giving you lots of inspiration for your own meal planning.

The Meal Planning Linky Week #40

This week I have planned 6 dinners. This leaves one day for using up leftovers or possibly eating out. We like to be a little loose with our meal planning, to try and avoid the possibility of food wastage. Also, we don’t eat our dinners on set days, as I just decide each evening which meal we will be eating the following day. This week we are trying to use up some of the slightly unloved items in our chest freezer, and a few tins and jars too. It’ll be a nice easy week, which is great!

My meals for the Meal Planning Linky Week #40 are:

Lasagne

Salt and pepper chicken

Homemade Chinese (probably salt + pepper chicken and airfryer chips among other items!)

Bolognese pasta bake

Bolognese pasta bake (using lasagne leftovers)

Easy calzone recipe - a look at my finished calzone

Calzone with chorizo, garlic bread (We didn’t get around to eating this last week)

Airfryer chips

Fish, airfryer chips & peas (A nice freezer dinner!)

Sausage traybake (This will hopefully be a nice recipe post in a few weeks – once I’ve perfected it!)

Homemade oat biscuits

Snack: airfryer chips

I love using my triple slow cooker. It helps me batch cook, make a separate meal for Daisy and I can even make side dishes too!

I love saving money by seeing how long I can go without grocery shopping for. I can guarantee that we will chuck some good foods away just because we buy food in to take their place. Much less of this is happening for us now too. I made sure to teach my son a thing or two too, so when he went off to uni, he asked for a set of plastic boxes in which to store his leftovers.
Thanks for the chance to link up.

I have also planned a week of budget meals. I bought a great potato recipe book in the charity shop – can’t wait to use it.

My husband tried them recently (as they were on the meal plan). They didn’t turn out perfect looking but they tasted absolutely delicious. Definitely give them a go! x

Love a good Chinese fakeaway night, we’re having spring rolls and fried rice. I thought about Calzone for packed lunches, might do those next week. I can’t wait to see your recipe for the sausage traybake. Love your meal plans, they are always thrifty and delicious.
