I’ve been making more time to read recently. It isn’t something that has to be all consuming and take up hours of your time everyday. Personally I tend to read when I’m laying in the bath, or when I want to lay in bed but not sleep. Also, my husband works 7-10 night shifts a month, so I get some reading done then. Since I’ve been making more effort to read I’ve been able to improve my own work quality, learn more and relax too. It has been great so far! Each month I am sharing with you What I’ve Been Reading!

What I've been reading - August 2017 edition

What I’ve been reading & loved

*Paul Hollywood’s Pies and Puds – I had forgotten just how many fantastic recipes there are in this book! I’ve already made an apple tart in the past month. Best of all I have this on my Kindle so I can take it into the kitchen easily too. The tarts are amazing and I love that I can make shortcrust pastry for just pennies in my *food processor.

*The Unmumsy Mum – I’m around halfway through this now and I have to say I’m loving it! Some parts really resonated with me, like the section on night feeds! Any parent will remember this time well, and the exhaustion. Most parents have tried something in a desperate attempt to get their baby to sleep and I found this part particularly funny.

What I’ve been reading and have not loved

Nothing this month! No time wasted, which was great!

What I’m planning on reading next

*Tanya Bakes – I’ve bought this for my Kindle, so I can use it in the kitchen. I’m aiming to make a couple of recipes from it if I can find time!

*30 Days to a Clean and Organized House – I’m hoping to pick up some more tips on keeping my home clean and organised. This is pretty cheap so I’m going to give it a go!

Got a suggestion of a great book for me? Why not leave me a comment or send me a message over on Twitter. I’m always interested in new books, and trying to improve myself in the process.

I just got the Konmari book from the library to help me with tidying and decluttering. I do love the library for trying out books since my Kindle died.

I tried to read the shopaholic series as I love Sophie Kinsella books but her attitude to spending got me so riled I gave up lol I downloaded a couple of Amazon freebie books recently and was surprised just how good they were!! Was well worth the punt. I love reading but once I start I can’t stop! I love to get lost in a good book.

30 days to a clean and organised house is so my thing.
I am finding it harder and harder to keep up especially when I like a spotless house.
Sometimes I find myself heading home on lunch break just to make use of the hour.

    • katykicker August 17, 2017 / 8:28 am

Oh wow, well done you for doing that. I don’t think we need spotless houses, just to find the right balance between being clean/tidy and being happy with our home.

I love The Unmumsy Mum’s book – I’ve read both and they’re both fab! The cleaning book sounds interesting, I definitely need some tips!
