homemade oat biscuits

Ingredients

  • 120 g butter I used dairy free
  • 75 g brown sugar
  • 30 ml golden syrup
  • 100 g porridge oats
  • 100 g plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder

Instructions

  1. Turn your oven to gas mark 5 / 190C.
  2. Combine butter and sugar in a bowl. Pour in golden syrup. Mix again. Add oats, flour and baking powder. Combine once more until all of the ingredients are mixed together and no more flour remains.
  3. Roll into small balls. I went for slightly bigger than a walnut.

  4. Place balls well spaced apart on to a baking tray. I line mine with baking tray liners as this prevents things sticking and means I don't have to use baking paper.

  5. Press down lightly with a fork. This gives a nice texture to the top and helps the biscuits to spread out too.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes. If not quite ready give another 1-2 minutes and they should be perfect. I remove mine just before they looked firm. Then I left them on a cooling rack for 10-15 minutes and they were perfect. Delicious served still warm from the oven!
