Salt and pepper chips

Chips with salt and pepper seasoning, onions and peppers

  • 400 g potatoes
  • 1/3 white onion
  • 1/3 bell pepper
  • Spray oil

Salt and pepper chips seasoning:

  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp chilli flakes
  • 1/2 tbs Chinese 5 spice


  1. Place a pan of lightly salted water on to boil.
  2. Pre-heat your oven to 200C (gas mark 6).

  3. Peel your potatoes (if you prefer them peeled).
  4. Chip your potatoes. You can just cut into slices and then lengthways into chips.

  5. Parboil your chips for 5 minutes.
  6. Drain, leave the chips in the drainer for a couple of minutes to steam dry.
  7. Coat your chips lightly with spray oil.
  8. Cook for 25-30 minutes at 200c (Gas mark 6).
  9. 5 minutes before the end chop your onion and pepper.

  10. Add spray oil to a wok, cook your vegetables for 3-4 minutes and then add the cooked chips, the salt and pepper seasoning and then toss together for 1-2 minutes before serving.
