I absolutely love to make homemade snacks for my daughters to enjoy after they’ve had a busy day of learning and working hard. These air fryer bagel chips take just a few minutes to make and are always a hit.
These are perfect served alone as a snack or with a dip for something a bit more substantial.
I love cooking all manner of air fryer recipes, and this one is super fast to prepare – probably one of the fastest on this website!
If you don’t have an air fryer then these are also delicious made in the oven, but you’ll want to add a few minutes to the cooking time. Perfect for cooking when you’ve already got something else on the go!
Making bagel chips is a great way to help cut food waste. Any recipe that encourages people to use up leftovers is great with me, especially when it is something as delicious and labour intensive as a bagel!

Ingredients for bagel chips in the air fryer:
1 bagel (any variety!) – it can even be one that has gone a little stale!
10ml olive oil or melted butter (homemade garlic butter works well)
10g parmesan cheese
Garlic salt or garlic powder
Cracked black pepper
Method for air fryer homemade bagel chips:
Take your bagel and make very thin cuts, in half, then quarters, then eighths etc. Your aim should be to create around 32 slices from the bagel. These will be very thin and perfect for air frying fast.
Add to a bowl with the olive oil, parmesan cheese, garlic salt and cracked black pepper.
Mix well to ensure that all of the bagel crisps are covered with the seasonings before they are air fried.
Arrange in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
Cook at 170C for 5 minutes.
Serve and enjoy warm for a delicious snack!
What bagels can you use?
Absolutely ANY bagels. I love to use plain ones, and add a nice bit of seasoning to them. You can use just about any bagels; cinnamon and raisin, everything bagels or onion and poppyseed are some of our favourites to use.
Cinnamon and raisin bagels work SO well with a sweetened cream cheese dip, or even a chocolate cream cheese dip – you can buy one ready made in UK supermarkets.
How to store these bagel chips:
An air tight container works well and will keep these well for at least 3 days. Personally I find they don’t last very long in our house as my girls love to snack on these.
If you want to freeze them then I’d recommend freezing them BEFORE they’re cooked but after you’ve added your seasoning (just ensuring that whatever you use is freezer suitable too!).
Want a different seasoning to use?
If you don’t want to use the above seasoning, and perhaps want some extra flavour, then be sure to try my seasoning blends:
These are some of my favourite dips to enjoy with these bagel crisps:
Soured cream and chive, tomato & chilli salsa, garlic & herb, roasted tomato pizza sauce, hummus, onion & garlic and nacho cheese sauce all work very well as dips for these bagel chips.
Here are some of my favourite items to use with my air fryer:
