As a busy working Mum of two I am always on the lookout for simple recipes, that don’t take too long, aren’t too expensive, and will feed a hungry crowd. Air fryer dessert pizza is something I came up with recently, when I had an excess amount of pizza dough.

I love to save money on food shopping while making tasty, fun food that my children will enjoy, and any visitors to our home too. This is a really simple recipe, and you can even use store bought pizza dough if you want to save a little time and effort.

Keeping lots of easy meal ideas on hand is the key to success in our home, as sometimes plans change with short notice, and I don’t want to resort to just buying treats from the ice cream man when I want to offer my eldest daughter something fun. I have lots of fun recipes I love to make with little ones, such as honeycomb or salted caramel sauce, which look impressive but are actually really simple, fast and cheap.

These dessert pizzas are great as part of a buffet spread, and watermelon popsicles would be a nice contrast to balance out health wise! We love a nice nutella pizza in our home, it’s so simple to make.

Ingredients for air fryer dessert pizza:

1 pizza base – see my pizza dough recipe if you want to make it yourself. You can also use cinnamon roll dough if you want to make something a little different!

150ml chocolate spread

150g strawberries

Mint to garnish

Method for air fryer dessert pizza:

Oil the air fryer basket lightly. I like to use Frylight, although this isn’t strictly recommended for air fryers. Check my air fryer tips for more information!

Take your pizza base, or rolled out pizza dough, and place it into the lightly oiled air fryer basket.

Cook this undressed pizza base at 200C (390F) for 5 minutes until it is lightly cooked.

While this is cooking wipe over and remove the tops from your strawberries. Then slice your strawberries either in half or into thinner slices to lay across the cooked base.

Leave to cool slightly for a few minutes on a cooling rack.

Spread across the chocolate spread. The residual heat from the base will melt this and make it easier to spread.

Add your strawberries and spread across in a nice pattern.

Add a mint garnish.

Slice and serve.

See below for more topping suggestions.

Topping ideas:

If you’re not a fan of the above suggestion you could try a few different variations:

S’mores style – melted chocolate spread, marshmallows and digestive or caramelised biscuit crumb to decorate.

Combine 250g of cream cheese with 80g caster sugar, mix well and use this as the topping. Add lots of berries and a little sauce.

Add chunks of your favourite chocolate bar, such as snickers or mars, to make something a bit special!

If you want to make a healthier variation of this pizza then you could use a large circular slice of watermelon, and then just drizzle lightly with a little melted chocolate spread. I like to microwave in 10 second bursts until it is beginning to melt, and then I keep mixing until it has fully melted.

Can you re-heat dessert pizza in the air fryer?

If it is topped with chocolate spread then I would recommend not doing this, as it’s probably going to burn the spread a little and leave a bitter aftertaste to the dessert pizza.

Can you make a mini dessert pizza in the air fryer?

Absolutely. Cut the cooking time down to 3-4 minutes, rather than 5-6 minutes, and then you’ll want to top in the same manner. This is a great way to make a variety of different goodies to suit all tastes.
