We’re BIG fans of pizza in this house! Between air fryer pizza, making homemade pizza dough in the bread maker and making homemade air fryer roasted tomatoes for roasted tomato pizza sauce we’ve got our recipes perfected! Making air fryer pizza rolls just seemed like the next progression for us, as they are ideal for lunch boxes and serving as a fun party food dish.
Pizza rolls are the perfect hand sized food for little ones and you can even make these in advance and freeze, either raw or cooked!
We also love to make air fryer pizza bagels when we’re looking to make a super fast lunch or tea!

Ingredients for air fryer pizza rolls:
1/2 of a portion of my pizza dough recipe
2 portions of roasted tomato pizza sauce
60g grated mozzarella and cheddar mix
Mixed Italian herbs (we like basil and oregano)
Method for making pizza rolls in the air fryer:
Roll out the pizza dough. You want to make it as thin as possible. I like to roll the dough out on a piece of baking paper, with one piece underneath and one on top. Then I use a rolling pin to roll it as thin as I can.
Spread over the tomato pizza sauce.
Add the grated cheddar.
Sprinkle on 1/2 of your herbs.
Roll up as tightly as possible. I find that using baking paper or cling film works well here.
Slice into 1 inch (2.5cm) slices.
Pop into the air fryer basket.
Bake at 200C for 6-7 minutes until golden brown.
What are some tasty sauces to serve with air fryer pizza rolls?
In our home we love:
- Tomato ketchup
- Brown sugar BBQ sauce
- Sweet chilli sauce
- Mayonnaise
- Garlic and herb dip
- Tomato and chilli salsa
What about making pizza rolls with puff pastry in the air fryer?
Using puff pastry instead of pizza dough would work great. I would suggest buying the ready rolled puff pastry sheets and then following the rest of the recipe above.
What toppings work well for pizza rolls?
The sky is the limit here really. You can add just about any topping that you like to your pizza pinwheels but here are a few suggestions:
- Air fryer chicken tikka
- Pepperoni or salami
- Air fryer cajun chicken made with homemade cajun seasoning
- Air fryer bacon
- Chopped up sausages
- Any vegetables diced finely
Want to try some of my other air fryer recipes while you’re here? Here are my latest ones:
- Air fryer parmentier potatoes
- Air fryer frozen roast potatoes
- Air fryer chicken tenders
- Chicken mini fillets in the air fryer
- Air fryer chocolate protein oats
- Air fryer smores
- Air fryer burgers
- Air fryer cheese crumpets
- Air fryer jerk chicken
- Air fryer Nando’s chicken
Can you freeze these?
Absolutely! We find it works best if you cook these, freeze them once cooled and then re-fresh in the air fryer for 4-5 minutes at 200C, or until piping hot.
The cheese goes all lovely again, with a crisp topping, and they stay soft and fluffy on the inside. Delicious! A great way to feed a hungry crowd of little ones if you’re rushing too.
Want to re-heat your pizza rolls?
If you’re re-heating from frozen I’d recommend 4-5 minutes. These will keep for at least 2-3 days in an airtight container. If you’re re-heating from refrigerated then 3 minutes at 200C is usually enough to warm through safely, but do use a thermometer to check it has reached a safe internal temperature before serving.
Here are some of my favourite air fryer cookbooks and accessories:
Something to note about air fryer recipes is that all air fryers have different sizes, depths and as such the cooking times can vary. All air fryer recipes on this website are intended as a guide, and not a guarantee that the timings will be perfect. Enjoy!
