There are SO many air fryer recipes that I love, and I can’t believe that I have only just started to make air fryer pizza in it! It is SUPER fast, so easy and it tastes absolutely delicious, whether it is homemade pizza or frozen.
In our home one of the biggest food expenses would have to be ordering takeaway food in when we reallllly don’t need to! We’ve been working hard to change this in the last year, especially after the big takeaway feast that was 2020!
This pizza recipe has been made using pizza dough made in the bread maker, however you could either make this by hand OR just use a ready made base. I LOVE a good sourdough pizza base myself.
I’ve also used bagels, soft white rolls, naan bread, no yeast flatbreads (to make air fryer flatbread pizzas) and even tortilla wraps in the past to make a quick and tasty pizza when my 5-year-old asks. We also love air fryer pizza rolls for a great way to feed a hungry crowd.
We love to serve this pizza with a garlic and herb dip – yum! We also love to make air fryer pizza bagels when we’re looking to make a super fast lunch or tea!

Ingredients for air fryer pizza:
1 pizza base – see my pizza dough recipe if you want to make it yourself.
Pizza sauce – I used roasted tomato pizza sauce.
Toppings of your choice – We usually go for pepperoni or nduja sausage and mozzarella.
Dried herbs of your choice (we love basil and oregano).

Method for air fryer pizza:
Spread your pizza sauce on your pizza base.
Add your toppings.
Sprinkle over some dried herbs (or fresh if you have them!). We freeze fresh herbs so we usually have some on hand, if not we use dried.
Cook at 200C for 8 minutes for a thin crust and 10 minutes for a deep pan/thick crust. Check the pizza 2-3 minutes before serving, as cooking times will vary based on the size of your air fryer, and the pizza itself of course!
If you fancy making mini pizzas I find that these just take 5-6 minutes, which is great if you’re preparing an after school snack or just fancy something extra tasty with a glass of wine at the end of a long day!

Can you re-heat pizza in the air fryer?
Yes, absolutely! What I like to do is wet the crust a little, sprinkle a few drops of water over the pizza and then pop in the air fryer in the bottom of the basket.
I find that 4 minutes at 200C is usually plenty to re-heat the pizza, but check that the pizza is piping hot before serving, as I’m often just re-heating 1 or 2 slices rather than a whole pizza!
How long do you cook pizza in the air fryer?
I find that 8-10 minutes is usually enough for any pizza that can fit in my air fryer basket. I like to check items when air frying at least 1 time, but usually 2. It is really fast to check the air fryer and you don’t lose lots of heat like you can with the oven.
Always make sure that your food is piping hot before serving but with pizza it is obvious when it is cooking, as the cheese will start to brown!
Can you make a mini pizza in the air fryer?
Yes, absolutely. These only take around 5 minutes in the Ninja Foodi. I love to make little mini naan pizzas for my 5-year-old. It is great fun getting her involved in spreading the toppings and she can be enjoying her creation in under 10 minutes!
How to cook frozen pizza in the Ninja Foodi?
With frozen foods and air frying I start with half of the time stated on the box for oven cooking, and then cook for 2/3 of the total cooking time if 1/2 isn’t enough. I find that 2/3 is usually the perfect time for most frozen foods, and with pizza I always go for a really high heat, usually 200C, to make sure the base is nice and crispy too.
