I’ve got a TON of easy air fryer recipes that I love to cook, and these air fryer pigs in blankets are super simple, and absolutely delicious.
When cooking a huge roast dinner, particularly for Christmas Day, I’m often limited on the space that I have in the oven. We have a two rack oven, and a separate top oven that is VERY temperamental. As such I love to use the air fryer during the last 30-40 minutes of the roast dinner cook time to prepare what I can alongside the oven.
Pigs in blankets are bacon wrapped sausages, often cocktail sausages or chipolatas, that are the perfect salty accompaniment to a hearty dinner, and always a crowd pleaser at Christmas time! Air frying them makes them super crispy and is a real time saver versus cooking in the oven too.
Air fryers have really grown in popularity in the last year in particular, and with tasty goodies like this coming out it is easy to see why!
If you don’t have an air fryer be sure to try these honey and mustard pigs in blankets.

Ingredients for making pigs in blankets in the air fryer:
6 pieces of streaky bacon
12 cocktail sausages OR chipolatas
How to make pigs in blankets in the air fryer:
Slice the streaky bacon in half, lengthways.
Wrap this around the cocktail sausages or chipolatas.
Place into the air fryer basket, bacon seam downwards. Alternatively you could use cocktail sticks to hold the bacon in place, but this feels like an unnecessary faff for me!
Cook at 180C (355F approx) for 8-9 minutes.
Serve and enjoy!
Can you cook frozen pigs in blankets in the air fryer?
If you are going to cook frozen pigs in blankets then follow the same timings as this recipe but add 2-3 minutes to your cooking time. As always just ensure that they are piping hot throughout before serving.
You want to ensure the internal cooking temperature has reached at least 75C (167F approx) before serving.
What to serve with pigs in blankets as an appetiser?
Personally I love to serve these alongside a roast dinner, particularly a Christmas roast dinner, but if you’re going to serve these as a starter, or perhaps with a party food buffet, then they go great with brown sugar BBQ sauce, tomato ketchup or even a lovely thickened onion gravy.
When I’m feeding a hungry crowd I love to do a selection of goodies including air fryer pizza rolls, air fryer sausage rolls, simple cheese straws, air fryer quiche, air fryer prawn toast and tomato and chilli salsa for dipping.
Want to make glazed pigs in blankets?
Honey and mustard is the classic / traditional glaze for pigs in blankets, and so once the pigs in blankets are cooked through mix together 30ml of honey, 10ml of soy sauce and 10ml of wholegrain mustard. Drizzle this over the pigs in blankets and cook in the air fryer basket for a further 2 minutes. They’ll be DELICIOUS!
If you want to make them a little more grown up then a bourbon glaze is another delicious alternative. You’ll want to replace the soy sauce and mustard with bourbon and follow the instructions above.

Something to note about air fryer recipes is that all air fryers have different sizes, depths and as such the cooking times can vary. All air fryer recipes on this website are intended as a guide, and not a guarantee that the timings will be perfect. Enjoy!
